SÁMI AND INDIGENOUS EDUCATION CONFERENCE 2026
Manage in a manifold world today and tomorrow
November 6–8, 2023
Diehtosiida, Guovdageaidnu, Norway
The Sámi University of Applied Sciences will host an international Sámi and Indigenous education conference. The aim is to share experiences in teaching and research. Sharing of experiences and research results can contribute to the development of pedagogical reflections and can be useful in Indigenization and decolonization processes of the everyday in early childhood centres, schools and higher education.
The themes of the conference include the following:
Sámi and Indigenous peoples' manifold value base in pedagogical thinking, practice and teacherhood
Sámi and Indigenous understanding of sustainable development and its practices
Identity, resilience and rights of Sámi and Indigenous children and pupils
The position and practices of reconciliation in the field of education
Welcome teachers, staff, leaders at all levels of education and all those who work with Sámi and Indigenous children and youth or on matters relating to them, welcome students and researchers. We look forward to hearing your presentations and experiences on these topics. We encourage you to make time for the conference and come and share your experience in teaching and research.
